A Powerful Afternoon at CBPC: Real Stories from the Convoy4Ukraine Mission

There are moments when words hardly do justice, and the last CBPC lunch was one of them.

Two of our committee members, President Fergus Ramsay and Vice President Massimo Gaetani, stood before a whole room and shared what they witnessed on the largest Convoy4Ukraine mission to date. Alongside 38 volunteers from 10 countries, they crossed borders and checkpoints — not just to deliver supplies, but to deliver hope.

They spoke of what they carried: £25,000 in medical equipment, 192 life-saving water filters, a professional kitchen setup, and even small touches from home. But what they truly brought was compassion, courage, and connection — the kind that reaches across language, distance, and heartbreak.

One story silenced the room: a simple potato peeler, handed to a family displaced from eastern Ukraine. Something so ordinary, yet so precious. A small tool that helped them cook again, eat together, and feel, for a brief moment, like life could be standard once more.

They also spoke of something that no one can ever forget — the lines of memory boards stretching through every town in Ukraine. Faces of soldiers, young and old, remembered by their loved ones. Each photograph a story, a heartbeat, a sacrifice. Standing in front of those walls, they said, was beyond words.

There were tears in the room. And pride. And gratitude. Because what Massimo and Fergus shared reminded us all that these missions aren’t symbolic gestures — they are acts of humanity, real and raw.

We are deeply proud of our members, and of the CBPC community that stands behind them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable and emotional afternoon. May it remind us all that compassion knows no borders — and that together, we can make a difference.

Together, we act. Together, we care.
